About the Role

Support facility operations by increasing the facility census through efficient management of the admissions process and collaboration with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the admissions process to ensure a positive experience for residents, families, and staff.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor daily operations of the Admissions Department to meet budgeted resident census goals.
  • Admit patients by completing admission and financial responsibility forms, and screening patients against admission criteria.
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Sales and Marketing department.
  • Collaborate with leaders of other facility departments to enhance the admissions experience.
  • Confirm insurance benefit coverage meets admission standards.
  • Coordinate and arrange physical, social, emotional, and support services, including transportation.
  • Obtain and verify applicant information through interviews, applications, and medical records.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of facility services and educate referral sources as appropriate.
  • Oversee bed assignments and completion of preliminary paperwork for admissions.
  • Complete resident intake process and coordinate with Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager to ensure appropriateness of admissions.
  • Maintain and communicate accurate records of bed availability.
  • Initiate, nurture, and maintain contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners to maximize referrals.
  • Attend daily stand-up meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
  • Assist in planning and executing outreach events such as health fairs and educational programs.
  • Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking.
  • Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill, and Evacuation Procedures.
  • Perform additional facility-specific tasks and projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position includes supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
  • Two years of admissions experience preferred.
  • LVN or RN license preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of desktop or laptop computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear.
  • Frequent use of office-related equipment (copier, scanner, fax, telephone, calculator).
  • May assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Work Environment

  • Noise level typically low to moderate.
