About the Job
The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) seeks Admissions Recruiters to assist with the recruitment of undergraduate students to our premier undergraduate health sciences university. Recruiters are based out of the Rochester campus and are provided with all necessary supplies and technology for remote or travel-related work.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruitment: 85%
- High school visits: Cultivate relationships with high school counselors and interested students.
- College fair participation: Coordinate and participate in college fairs.
- Campus visits: Participate in campus visit days, including group presentations and tours.
- Personal correspondence: Recruit students through text, phone, email, social media, and other forms of communication.
- Accurate record keeping: Utilize and maintain accurate data in software systems for weekly reports to the Enrollment Management Team.
- Under-represented students: Collaborate with the Student Success, Engagement and Equity Team to develop relationships with teachers and community members.
- Office of Admissions Teamwork / Application Processing and Professional Development: 15%
- Participate in team meetings to coordinate activities.
- Process applications and conduct admission interviews.
- Contribute to the daily operation of the Office of Admissions.
- Engage in professional development.
Days and Schedule
Admissions recruiters must be able to travel and work beyond an 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. work schedule occasionally to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, which will include on-site training, in-person events, and engagements on evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and two years experience after degree completion, a master’s degree.
- Valid driver’s license.
- PREFERRED:
- At least one year of experience in admissions, student recruitment, the transfer process, or multicultural student support.
- Demonstrated intercultural competence, including experience working in diverse communities.
- Experience working with an accredited, not-for-profit institution.
- Experience recruiting under-represented students.
- Fluent in English and one other language.
- Ability to work in an innovative, collaborative, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to UMR values and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and take initiative.
- Excellent communication skills including writing and public speaking.
- Ability to relate well with high school students and parents.
- Ability to use and learn a variety of computer programs including Excel, PeopleSoft, and other databases.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $48,000 - $58,000 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
