About the Role

The Admissions Counselor provides advanced professional knowledge, advice, and counseling about the Chaminade University of Honolulu (CUH) student admission and recruitment process. This position is primarily responsible for the recruitment of online (Flex) undergraduate and graduate level students. The Admissions Counselor will participate in activities that generate prospects, applicants, and enrollees, working in coordination with the Admissions and Enrollment Management team to meet and exceed enrollment goals. This role serves as the face of the University to potential and new students, embodying CUH’s mission and Marianist beliefs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement all parts of the Admissions strategic plan and meet recruitment goals set by the department.
  • Represent Chaminade University at events, functions, and to students and parents.
  • Assist in planning recruitment functions, including events on and off campus.
  • Provide information to prospective students and parents about educational opportunities at CUH.
  • Counsel students and parents about admission requirements and refer students to Financial Aid as needed.
  • Review applications for eligibility and determine admissibility according to departmental procedures.
  • Develop relationships with community contacts and other CUH departments.
  • Travel to conferences and other institutes of learning to publicize admission requirements and benefits of attending CUH.
  • Respond to phone, email, text, and other inquiries from students and parents.
  • Perform data entry, data searches, and retrieval; prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations.
  • Assist with the design and development of content for marketing materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject with 2 years’ customer service or sales experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years’ experience counseling students in academic and scholastic matters, and 1 year of experience in a university setting.
  • Broad knowledge of institutional admission requirements and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with Slate (preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the university, including a culturally and ethnically diverse student population.
  • Comfortable and articulate when speaking in front of groups or individuals; familiarity with digital communication and social media platforms.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, goal-oriented, and organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy in data gathering and input.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Duties involve light work in an office and community setting, with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills and finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas effectively.

Other Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and/or access to transportation for intra-island travel.
  • Full-time, exempt position requiring a general schedule of 40 hours per week (M-F), with occasional additional hours or schedule changes based on project cycles and workflow demands.
  • Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and varying schedules as required.
  • Expressed willingness to respect and support the Catholic and Marianist identity of Chaminade University and perform duties consistent with its mission and values.
  • Understanding of and respect for the University’s designation as an institution serving students of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island ancestry.
