Admissions Counselor
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the University at high schools, community colleges, university fairs, and other recruitment events.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, and school counselors through in-person visits, phone calls, email, social media, and mail.
- Provide counseling to students and parents about the admissions process, academic programs, and student life.
- Review and evaluate student application materials for admission decisions.
- Recruit primarily residential students, while also assisting with online programs, PSEO, and StartPoint initiatives.
- Collaborate with Admissions colleagues to develop strategies that support enrollment goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; prior experience at a four-year residential university preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and public presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel several weeks each fall and spring; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access).
- Professional demeanor with the ability to represent the University positively.
- Flexibility to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Positive, engaging, and student-centered approach that contributes to a healthy and fun Admissions culture.
