Admissions Counselor
About the role
The UW-Stevens Point Admissions Counselor position manages all student segments and the college search and admissions process within the assigned geographic territory. This role involves extensive outreach and recruitment events, engaging with prospective and admitted students, and developing admissions and outreach events.
Responsibilities
- Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students.
- Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities.
- May supervise staff and/or lead a program area.
- Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures.
- Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events.
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution.
- Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
- Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.
- Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience working in admissions, customer service, sales, or related fields.
- Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, written communication, and collaborative skills.
- Demonstrated time-management skills, ability to multitask, adapt, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, social sciences, humanities, or related fields.
- Recruitment experience.
- Comfortable with technology and customer relationship management systems (CRM - SLATE).
- Bilingual.
- Experience of operating technology-based platforms (i.e. Microsoft office suite).
- Experience in college or university recruitment.
Skills
Effective public speaking, interpersonal, written communication, and collaborative skills are essential. Demonstrated time-management, ability to multitask, adapt, and meet deadlines, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are also crucial. The ability to think critically and solve problems independently is vital. A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required is necessary.
Benefits
The Admissions Counselor is a full-time, salaried, exempt, annual (12-month) position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $45,966 - $46,350 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications. Pay
The starting annual salary for the Admissions Counselor position ranges from $45,966 to $46,350, commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
Schedule
Employees are expected to make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Independent travel is a core function of the job.
