About the role
Serve as admissions counselor within the framework of the University’s enrollment targets and consistent with the mission and annual objectives of the admissions office. Oversee a geographic recruitment territory and conduct activities to support the recruitment of academically qualified and diverse students. This position is campus-based with potential for hybrid environment at specified times of year.
Responsibilities
- Conduct large and small group presentations.
- Visit high schools and attend college fairs.
- Represent the University of Vermont on and off campus.
- Communicate regularly with prospective students and parents.
- Review applications and make admissions decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two to four years’ related experience.
- Demonstrated multicultural competency and a commitment to recruit a diverse student population.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Basic computing skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and familiarity with relational student databases).
- Ability to travel outside Vermont.
- A valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish or Mandarin.
Pay
$52,000 to $54,000
Schedule
- Non-standard work hours required.
- Occasional evening and/or weekends required.
- Eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy.
