Scope

Skyland Trail, a nonprofit mental health residential treatment program for adults and adolescents in Atlanta, is seeking an Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Counselor will be responsible for answering intake calls, providing excellent customer service, completing clinical assessments, and conceptualizing potential admitting clients.

Responsibilities

  • Triage phones calls, perform crisis counseling, family sessions, and conduct psychosocial and other assessments.
  • Clinically conceptualize potential admissions, including assessing clients, family questionnaire/interview, and recording findings.
  • Provide guidance to families and clients throughout the admissions process, including phone calls, tours, and face-to-face consultations.
  • Coordinate care with referral sources such as hospitals, psychiatrists, therapists, and other mental health facilities.
  • Keep written accounts of all calls, referral sources, and clinical correspondence.
  • Gather and incorporate all pre-admission testing from clients and families into clients' records.
  • Document all assessments, phone calls, and admissions to the program via electronic medical records systems prior to admissions.
  • Complete admission paperwork with new admissions and their families.
  • Complete Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating (C-SSRS), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) on all new admissions.
  • Write psychosocial assessments for all clients.
  • Attend appropriate meetings as needed: staffing meetings, weekly admissions meetings, weekly clinical supervision, and quarterly all-staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
