Admissions Counselor

About the role

Admissions Counselor in the Department of Admissions and Merit Awards at Coastal Carolina University. This position is responsible for implementing policies and procedures for the recruitment of prospective undergraduate students, assisting with front‑line customer service, and performing community outreach activities both on‑ and off‑campus to meet enrollment goals while upholding professional and ethical guidelines. Coastal Carolina University is a public comprehensive liberal arts institution in Conway, South Carolina, enrolling over 12,000 students from 48 states and 53 nations and accredited to award baccalaureate, master’s, specialist, and PhD degrees.

Responsibilities

• Develop plan, and implement admissions/enrollment recruitment activities within assigned territory, including attendance at college fairs, high school visits, workshops, panels, and other recruitment events.
• Enter recruitment trip, student inquiries, and evaluation information into CRM.
• Complete all travel paperwork in compliance with University and office policy.
• Review and make decisions on applications utilizing established criteria and guidelines.
• Provide ongoing contact with assigned applicant pool to ensure file completion, acceptance, and enrollment.
• Build relationships and personalize the admissions process for students, parents, and school counselors through individual communication and/or updates via note writing, email, text, and/or phone call.
• Exhibit exemplary professionalism and provide excellent customer service as a representative of the university.
• Conduct admissions presentations for campus visitors.
• Assist the admissions events staff with planning and executing recruitment and enrollment events.
• Attend and work events, conducting presentations as requested both after hours and on weekends, on and off campus.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Prior higher education experience in admissions, student recruitment, or student services.
• Preferred: Knowledge and familiarity with Coastal Carolina University (CCU).

• Sensitivity to the needs of all prospective students and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and counselors.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel alone extensively and work flexible hours, including overnight and weekend travel.
• Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. unassisted.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Pay

SC State Pay Grade: GEN06. Salary range: $37,944.00 (minimum) to $49,266.00 (midpoint).

Schedule

Normal work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (37.5 hours per week, 12‑month basis). Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university, including occasional after‑hours, weekend, and off‑campus work.
