Admissions Counselor

About the Role

The Admission Counselor at the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) reports directly to the Assistant Director of Enrollment and supports first-level enrollment duties for all GSSW programs. This position focuses on recruitment and admissions, engaging with prospective students, providing program information, and guiding them through the admissions process. The Admission Counselor will represent the institution at events, manage student records in Slate, and participate in application review and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries from prospective students via phone, email, and other channels, providing detailed information about GSSW programs, admission requirements, and campus life.
• Initiate outbound calls to prospective students to communicate program benefits and address questions or concerns.
• Build rapport with prospective students to understand their goals and provide personalized guidance throughout the inquiry, application, and enrollment process.
• Assist students with completing application forms, gathering documentation, and navigating admissions procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions with prospective students in the CRM system.
• Contribute to developing and implementing new outreach and engagement methods for prospective students.
• Co-lead bi-weekly online information sessions, including technical setup, attendee management, and follow-up support.
• Assist and/or lead weekly Friday campus tours and support monthly in-person information sessions.
• Provide logistical and operational support for all online and in-person enrollment team events.
• Support research and data gathering projects related to recruitment and admissions, including analyzing competitor programs.
• Understand and adhere to admissions guidelines and participate in special recruitment projects.
• Collaborate with the admissions team to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
• Stay informed about academic offerings, financial aid options, and admission policies to provide up-to-date information.
• Represent the institution at admissions events, engaging with prospective students and families.
• Collect and manage applicant data in Slate, ensuring accurate entry and follow-up correspondence.
• Uphold professionalism and ethical conduct in all recruitment and admissions processes.
• Travel in-state to college fairs, recruitment events, and community outreach programs to promote GSSW.
• Serve as a first reader for Denver Campus and Online MSW applications, reviewing materials and assessing qualifications against admissions criteria.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1 year of experience working in an office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some graduate-level coursework.
• 2 years of administrative experience in an office.
• Experience working with college/university admissions.
• Experience with Technolutions Slate, Ellucian Banner, or other CRMs.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Some evening and weekend work hours required. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

Pay

The hourly range for the position is $25.54-$27.00. The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, and market information.
