About the role
Assists and provides guidance to prospective Job Corps enrollees by determining basic eligibility, conducting screening, and providing career-based counseling. Performs outreach by traveling in assigned service area to local schools and community organizations.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the enrollment process for eligible youth in the Job Corps program.
- Conducts interviews to determine applicant eligibility in the Job Corps program.
- Implements a local outreach program to ensure a sufficient number of referrals to achieve contracted goals.
- Collects and maintains applicant files with accurate data and signatures on all required forms.
- Provides applicants, schools and other interested parties with up-to-date information regarding trades offered at Job Corps.
- Routinely conducts tours of the center for prospective applicants and other interested groups.
- Provides presentations about Job Corps, trades offered, and the eligibility requirements to community partners, schools, youth groups, etc.
- Establishes rapport with applicants and provides ongoing support through the application process, pre-departure and updates and during center stay.
- Introduces applicants to labor market information in applicant’s preferred vocation in his/her own hometown area.
- Establishes and maintains positive partnerships with center staff to ensure that centers receive committed and informed applicants and that students receive quality services.
- All other duties as assigned
Schedule
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Requirements
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field; or associate's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field, and two years related experience.
- Experience may include successful Job Corps outreach and admissions experience or successful outreach and admissions with other youth development programs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Minimum plus Previous Job Corps experience
- Knowledge of Job Corps or similar training program.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
- Ability to effectively relate to students.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Pay
- $24.93 – $24.94 per hour
