About the Role
The Admissions Coordinator maintains admission guidelines, markets programs, screens applicants, completes the admissions process, and resolves resident concerns during the transition to the center. This role develops census and quality mix by providing prospective residents, responsible parties, and referral sources with appropriate information and assistance.
Responsibilities
- Maintains admissions guidelines and participates in writing, updating, and recommending changes to admissions criteria, policies, and procedures.
- Markets programs and facilities by preparing and providing information, answering questions, and conducting tours with prospective residents, responsible parties, and referral sources.
- Handles walk-in or telephone inquiries; completes inquiry electronic system for admissions, Medicare facts, and room rates.
- Gathers nursing information from the e-discharge system or floor nurse at the hospital.
- Ensures financial verification is accurate and complete before resident admission to assist in reducing accounts receivable.
- Screens prospective residents by comparing resident conditions to admission criteria; evaluates and accepts or rejects residents; refers residents and families to other programs or institutions as needed.
- Resolves resident and family dissatisfactions by investigating concerns and recommending changes in service policies and procedures.
- Maintains knowledge of served market areas, resident origin, and major referral sources.
- Assists with census development by making quality contact (telephone, email, etc.) with referral sources.
- Manages incoming inquiries, including clinical evaluations of residents for admission when necessary.
- Visits prospective residents in the hospital to assess suitability for admission; contacts Social Services and insurance companies to verify eligibility and coverage.
- Meets with families upon or before admission to sign paperwork, records admission details, and inspects resident rooms prior to admission.
- Actively participates in morning kick-off meetings and sells private transition days to current residents.
- Assists the Administrator in contacting families post-admission and discharge to determine satisfaction; provides follow-up on complaints and problem-solves with residents and staff.

Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Experience in healthcare services is desirable; familiarity with long-term care or health care services is useful.
- Presents a professional image through appearance, behavior, and speech.
