About the role
The Admissions Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for prospective residents, families, and referral partners. This highly visible role ensures a seamless, supportive, and professional admissions experience from initial inquiry through move-in. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, personable, and confident in navigating healthcare systems and insurance processes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for all admission inquiries, providing clear, compassionate communication to residents, families, hospitals, and referral sources
- Coordinate and manage the admissions process from referral to admission
- Conduct facility tours and present services with professionalism and warmth
- Verify insurance benefits, secure required authorizations, and review financial information
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and administrative teams to evaluate and process admissions
- Maintain accurate and compliant admissions documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, case managers, discharge planners, and community partners
- Track admissions activity and maintain reporting metrics
- Participate in marketing initiatives and community outreach efforts as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
- Previous experience in healthcare admissions, skilled nursing, social services, case management, or related healthcare role required
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care plans, and insurance authorization processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
- Customer-service focused with a compassionate, solutions-oriented mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems
