About the Role

The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administrative, business, and financial operations for the AU Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. This role oversees ambulatory practice sites in the Medical Office Building (MOB) and the second floor of the main hospital, ensuring high-quality, patient- and family-centered care while achieving optimal business performance. The Administrator ensures adherence to AU and Health System policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • General Administration: Oversee daily administrative, operational, and financial management of the departments and ambulatory practice sites. Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and adherence to policies.
  • Departmental Oversight: Manage budgeting, financial performance, reporting, and compliance for Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. Lead recruitment, supervision, and development of administrative staff, faculty, and advanced practice providers (APPs). Oversee space, property, and resource management.
  • Operations & Patient Care: Lead day-to-day operations of ambulatory practice sites, ensuring efficient, patient- and family-centered care. Develop and implement clinical and operational services to improve patient access, satisfaction, and care delivery. Collaborate with physicians and staff to optimize patient flow and clinical performance.
  • Financial & Business Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, billing, collections, reimbursement, and expense control. Develop business plans and growth initiatives to improve operational and financial performance.
  • Staff Leadership & Development: Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop clinical staff. Promote accountability, teamwork, and professional growth. Support physician and staff engagement through effective communication and leadership.
  • Quality, Compliance & Performance Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor key performance indicators. Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards. Develop policies and corrective action plans to support operational excellence and patient safety.
  • Strategic Growth & Resource Management: Identify opportunities for program expansion, new business development, and community outreach. Oversee facility operations, space utilization, technology, and information systems to support practice growth and efficiency.
  • Education Administration: Provide infrastructure to support excellence in education for students, residents, and fellows. Develop initiatives to meet institutional and departmental goals for graduation, board pass rates, and recruitment from LCME-accredited medical schools.
    • Ophthalmology Residency Program: 9 categorical residents
    • Otolaryngology Residency Program: 12 categorical residents

Requirements

  • MBA, MHA, or MPH from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of clinical administrative and business experience.

Skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Pay

Pay Band: B19

Salary Minimum: $144,800 annually. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint).

Schedule

Days, Monday through Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required).
