Administrator on Duty-Registered Nurse- Part Time 3rd Shift

About the role

Western State Hospital seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to work as a 3rd shift Administrator on Duty (AOD). This role provides supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department, other patient care areas, and the hospital after office hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department, other patient care areas, and the hospital after office hours (evening, night shifts, weekends).
• Apply high clinical insight and critical thinking skills.
• Develop and implement staffing plans for shifts based on patient acuity, census, and available staff.
• Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems.
• Assist staff in efficiently utilizing staffing resources to meet patient care requirements.
• Report and document incidents on the shift to the appropriate manager and director.
• Respond to behavioral and medical emergencies and assist as necessary.
• Act as a resource, interpret, and ensure adherence to Western State Hospital nursing policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Professional nursing experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Strong communication and computer skills demonstrated in a professional career.

Qualifications

• Psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• Psychiatric certification desired.
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution or higher education.
• Veteran or veteran spouse status considered.
• Bilingual in Spanish considered.

Pay

Hiring range: $56.50 per hour. Pay Band: 5.

Schedule

Part‑time position working the 3rd shift (evenings, nights, and weekends).
