About the role
The Grant Department of the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences provides comprehensive support to researchers in planning and implementing their grant projects. This includes actively identifying suitable funding sources, assisting in the preparation of project applications, administering ongoing projects both substantively and financially, and offering methodological support and specialized consulting in the field of grants and subsidies. The department handles approximately 160-180 grant projects annually.
We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual to join our team, focusing on the preparation and administration of projects funded by Czech providers.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and administration of research and development grant projects (e.g., GAČR, TAČR, AZV, MŠMT, MZE, AV ČR)
- Substantive and financial administration of projects, including:
- Compiling and reviewing project budgets
- Monitoring ongoing project expenditures according to funding conditions
- Preparing financial reports and collaborating on interim and final reports
- Preparing documentation for audits and inspections
- Assisting with project change management
- Communication and collaboration with project investigators and partner institutions in the Czech Republic
- Liaising with grant providers in the Czech Republic
- Providing support during project audits and inspections
- Offering methodological support and consulting to researchers during project implementation
- Collaborating with the economic, personnel, and legal departments, as well as other internal units, within the scope of the projects
Requirements
- University education (preferably in economics) or secondary education with relevant experience
- Proficiency in English
- Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Prior experience in a similar role is required
- Experience with grant systems (e.g., GRIS/GRITA, (S)ISTA) is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of accounting
- Attention to detail, reliability, and independence
- Willingness to engage in continuous self-education and learning
- Analytical, creative, and structured thinking
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
