Responsibilities

  • Reviews staffing each shift for each unit.
  • Affords assistance to the charge nurse to ensure adequate staffing when there is a problem.
  • Makes rounds and provides managerial presence.
  • Affords assistance to new personnel and serves as a resource to the nursing staff.
  • Affords assistance with procedures when staff has difficulty.
  • Affords advocacy to locate resources such as supplies as needed.
  • Listens to staff problems and effectively resolves conflict as necessary.
  • Responds to safety codes when necessary.
  • Provides information to nurse managers regarding quality and employee problems.
  • Resolves patient/family complaints when necessary.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually.
  • Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
  • Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of clinical experience and experience in the teaching of nursing is desired.
  • Licensure Requirement: Current Tennessee RN license.
  • CPR required.
