About the role
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) within the Division of Academic Affairs seeks an Administrative Support Coordinator I to join the Dean’s Office team. This role provides clerical and administrative support to students, faculty, staff, and community members, serving as the front-line receptionist for the ECS Dean's Office.
Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of general office tasks, including word processing, composing newsletters, and updating social media.
- Oversee scheduling of the Dean’s Office conference room and coordinate between the ECS Dean’s office, departments/programs, and the broader university (e.g., Scheduling, Academic Programs, Finance, Physical Plant).
- Handle inventory and purchase office supplies as needed.
- Plan, initiate, execute, and coordinate activities and events, including event planning, advertising, and financial reconciliations for College Centers.
- Maintain files, process documents and records, gather data, and resolve problems for work unit customers and staff.
- Provide customer service via email, telephone, and in-person interactions, using problem-solving skills to address inquiries.
- Support departments and programs during absences, illnesses, vacations, or high-demand periods.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the College Dean and Associate Dean.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in general office, clerical, or administrative support work (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Thorough knowledge of office systems, technology, and software packages.
- Ability to independently handle multiple priorities and projects, applying policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
- Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures, including standard business math (e.g., calculating ratios, percentages, tracking financial data).
- Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle a broad range of contacts, including sensitive or high-level interactions.
- Valid California driver’s license.
A background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
Pay
Classification Range: $4,047 - $5,896 per month. Hiring range: $4,047 - $4,211 per month, depending on qualifications.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
