About the role

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for various health and social services. This Administrative Specialist I (S) position in Rocky Mount supports the Rocky Mount CDSA in maximizing agency revenue through accurate and timely reimbursement for services.

Responsibilities

  • Processing public and commercial insurance billing
  • Reviewing and submitting claims through NC Tracks
  • Verifying Medicaid eligibility
  • Managing Prior Authorizations through the NC Tracks Operations Portal
  • Troubleshooting billing and authorization issues
  • Communicating effectively with providers to resolve claim discrepancies
  • Ensuring timely reimbursement for services
  • Assisting with supply inventory
  • Maintaining accurate business records
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in public and commercial insurance billing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in navigating multiple electronic billing systems to process claims and resolve billing issues
  • Experience in reviewing, examining, and preparing documents
  • Experience in compiling, organizing, and analyzing financial information and other data

Qualifications

  • Some state job postings allow for qualification through an “equivalent combination of education and experience.”
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain and interpret policies, procedures, and billing information to clients, providers, customers, and staff
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
