About the role
This is the first level of a four-level classification series and is considered entry-level. The incumbent performs varied general office support tasks under direct supervision, following specific instructions or established office procedures.
Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time, which may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Sorts and files material (alphabetical, numerical, subject) by rules and directions furnished.
- Answers telephones, takes and delivers messages, refers calls to proper person.
- Performs deliveries to and from work sites.
- Prepares mailings for distribution and/or processing.
- Operates equipment such as copier, adding machine, fax machine, etc.
- Runs errands and works on special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent with coursework in general office practices.
- Six (6) months of experience in an office, administrative, or related support position.
Skills
- Basic arithmetic.
- Office practices and procedures.
- Operating office equipment.
- Oral and written communication.
- Ability to follow clearly stated oral and written instructions or procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by work assignments.
- Follow-through on assignments as directed.
Physical Demands
- Continuously uses vision.
- Frequently sits for long periods of time.
- Frequently talks and listens.
- Manual dexterity for computer work and routine paperwork.
- Occasionally walks and reaches with hands and arms.
- Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.
