About the role

This position provides substantive administrative services in a variety of program areas within the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO). The incumbent serves as a point of contact for program and administrative issues, requiring knowledge of administrative support services to implement improvements that promote responsiveness and effectiveness.

Duties

  • Performs developmental and/or recurring assignments in support of the Acquisition/Contract Management Program
  • Ensuring that office operations are conducted effectively and efficiently
  • Formulating and executing the support services budget
  • Analyzing support services processes and procedures
  • Preparing a variety of reports
  • Making purchases within delegated authority
  • Maintaining purchasing and contract records

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-7 Level: Meet at least ONE of the following:

  • Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level, involving at least two or more of the following: providing administrative support services in areas such as budget, space management, security, purchasing supplies and equipment, contract administration, property management, mail, records, office automation, information management, and communications hardware and software.
  • Education: Possess a Bachelor's degree (or expect to complete within 9 months) AND meet at least one of: upper third class standing; overall GPA of 3.0; GPA of 3.0 based on final two years; GPA of 3.5 in major field or final two years of major; or election to a national scholastic honor society. OR possess one full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., Accounting, Financial Management, Public Administration, Business Administration).
  • Combination: A combination of specialized experience and graduate education (in excess of 1 full year) that totals 100% of the requirements.

GS-9 Level: Meet at least ONE of the following:

  • Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level, defined as initiating procurement actions for a variety of purchases, and providing administrative support services in areas such as space management, mail records, reproduction services, internal controls, and property management and inventory.
  • Education: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.) OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting).
  • Combination: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education (in excess of 1 full year) and experience that total 100% of the requirements.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment conditioned upon satisfactory pre-employment adjudication (fingerprint, credit, tax checks, and drug testing); continued employment subject to favorable background investigation adjudication
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • May be required to complete a one-year probationary period
  • All qualification requirements must be met upon closing date of the announcement
