This position serves as professional support within the unit and is directly accountable to the Sergeant for the proper administration, general management, and control of all matters related to the unit's operation. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) operates 24/7/365, and all employees—sworn or civilian—are responsible for the general welfare of Nashville and Davidson County citizens, ensuring optimal communications within Metro and between Metro and the public.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to patrol and investigative units by monitoring calls for service using technology.
- Support Transit Division, patrol elements, investigative units, special events, and law enforcement partners.
- Coordinate information sharing across numerous platforms, ranks, and divisions.
- Build relationships and provide real-time investigative support to MNPD Transit Division, patrol elements, investigative units, and law enforcement partners.
- Support major and special events.
- Take on special projects, proactively address current and future technology needs, and assist various investigative elements.
- Perform public speaking assignments in the community, teach in-service or recruit training classes, or similar engagements, including tours of the Community Safety Center.
- Evaluate incoming CAD information to detect emerging crime patterns or other significant events.
- Conduct investigative research for critical incidents and coordinate information sharing with on-scene personnel.
- Relay information between police officers, dispatch, specialized units, and command staff via phone, radio, email, and other communication tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree plus one (1) year of experience in law enforcement, military, security, emergency preparedness, or public safety in a patrol, investigatory, dispatch, technical, or similar support capacity (sufficient to gain basic familiarity with law enforcement functions and operations).
- Additional experience may substitute for education on a 1:1 basis.
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including on-call capacity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- Must be a resident of the State of Tennessee or become a resident within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior sworn law enforcement or 911 dispatch experience.
- NCIC certification.

This is a 24/7/365 operation requiring availability for varied shifts and on-call duty.
