About the role

RCC seeks applicants for an Administrative & Office Specialist III position, responsible for administrative support to our Workforce Development Division. This is a full-time, classified, restricted staff position, with an excellent benefits package. Continuation of the position is contingent upon funding.

Workforce Development provides high-quality, flexible, and cost-effective professional and technical training programs for individuals, groups, and organizations in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula of Virginia. This role primarily assists students and visitors and oversees testing services within the Workforce Development division of RCC.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assist with Workforce training offerings
  • Update the mailing list and initiate phone contacts to meet enrollment projections
  • Assist students with registration, including determination of funding eligibility and requirements for enrollment
  • Work with students interested in Workforce classes to complete their applications for college courses
  • Gather information, perform data entry, create databases, and maintain student file retention
  • Greet visitors and respond to telephone inquiries with tact, courtesy, and accuracy
  • Administer and proctor tests for credentialing
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor

Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to organize and coordinate at a high level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Experience with and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Access, and Excel)
  • Experience with accurately managing file systems
  • Experience with Zoom meetings and telephone systems
  • Must be available to work at both the Glenns campus and the Kilmarnock Center as needed
  • Must be available to travel within the service region

Additional Considerations

  • Experience with testing administration
  • Knowledge of VCCS and RCC policies and procedures
  • Operation of a State Vehicle

Pay

The hiring salary range is $45,000 - $50,000, commensurate with experience.
