About You

  • High School Diploma required
  • Completed Medical Assisting School or received a Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Must be willing to travel to all clinic locations in the Tampa Bay area
  • Must be able to work extended hours to cover clinics as needed
  • Must have suture/staple removal experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform secretarial duties for physician, including knowledge of medical terminology, and hospital and clinic procedures
  • Effectively deliver quality patient care and follow through with physician orders
  • Handle inter-office correspondence
  • Open and distribute mail for Physician
  • Maintain Physician files
  • Maintain Physician schedule
  • Answer phone calls
  • Enter all calls in Filemaker
  • Schedule appointments, depositions, conferences, etc.
  • Schedule patient surgeries, pre and post operative appointments, and prepare paperwork
  • Schedule all surgeries in Filemaker
  • Enter Physician billing information in Filemaker, if applicable
  • Serve as liaison between Physician and Hospital
  • Serve as liaison between Physician and patient
  • Prepare letters of excuse from work or school
  • Triage patient calls
  • Facilitate patient interaction with other FOI departments
  • Complete Disability Forms for patients
  • Make travel arrangements for Physicians
  • Assist Physician in clinic, if applicable
  • Assure compliance with all company plans, policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute
  • All other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish Bi-Lingual a Plus!
  • Athena EMR experience
  • Administrative Assistant experience
  • Orthopaedic experience

Compensation is based on experience, certification level, and relevant orthopedic or high-volume clinical background.
