About the role
Under the supervision of the Deputy/Program Director, the selected candidate will manage complex capital commitment projects for the NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division. Responsibilities include overseeing planning, execution, and project completion; managing Construction Management staff, budgets, and schedules; and collaborating with Sponsor Agencies from project inception to ensure alignment with scope and vision.
Responsibilities
- Generate cost estimates to determine bid prices and develop deliverable dates to establish project schedules.
- Supervise, coordinate, and direct project design, construction management, and construction staff.
- Resolve complex construction or design issues and negotiate with contractors and vendors.
- Process and review change orders and project estimates; ensure adherence to safety precautions and project timelines.
- Generate reports, attend meetings, oversee contractor performance, and supervise Project Managers and Junior Project Managers.
Requirements
- One year of full-time experience supervising employees performing project management work on engineering, architectural, or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project valued at $1,000,000 or more.
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related fields, plus one year of project management experience; OR a high school diploma and five years of equivalent experience; OR a combination of education and experience equating to five years.
- Experience credit may be granted for relevant college coursework, advanced degrees, professional licenses, or New York State licensure as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Registered Landscape Architect.
- At least one additional year of supervisory experience or one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
- At least two additional years of supervisory experience or two additional years as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
Preferred Skills
- Six or more years of experience in complex design and construction project management, schedule management, and cost management.
- Ability to manage construction managers and complete multiple multi-trade projects on schedule.
- Strong organizational, computer, verbal, and written communication skills with attention to detail.
Pay
$86,749.00 – $113,013.00
