About the role
The Administrative Assistant I – Education provides high-quality administrative support to the Chairperson and full-time and part-time faculty within the Education department, ensuring the department operates efficiently and professionally while fostering a welcoming, collaborative environment. This is a diverse department that includes Early Childhood Education (ECE), Interpreter Education (ASL), Elementary Education (ELEE), Mathematics Education, and Tartan TOPS.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular departmental business hours and provide customer service to students, faculty, and stakeholders
- Serve as the primary front-office contact for the department, responding to inquiries and directing individuals to appropriate resources and personnel
- Assist students and faculty members efficiently and in a timely manner
- Demonstrate personable communication skills with students, faculty, and stakeholders
- Maintain departmental calendars to include the Chair and some Faculty members as needed
- Coordinate, order, process, receive and log office supplies
- Prepare, format, proofread, and distribute correspondence, reports, forms, and other departmental documents
- Process incoming and outgoing mail correspondences
- Process and duplicate materials
- Maintain familiarity with Sinclair’s website, Colleague, and Portal to retrieve data requested by dept. chairperson and faculty
- Process faculty payload, requisitions, purchase orders, food requests, textbook adoptions, work orders, and other budget related items when requested
- Process travel request forms, SSA and SSPA forms
- Input EDU schedules w/registration office and coordinate classroom requests
- Schedule testing for ASL Proficiency Exams
- Plan and organize departmental meetings and activities, including prepare and maintain agendas, materials and minutes
- Schedule Interpreters for Deaf faculty and staff
- Perform other duties related to the department when assigned and needed to the operation and needs of the Education Department
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in an office setting required
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and current working knowledge or ability to learn Sinclair/departmental databases required
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while providing great attention to detail and meeting all necessary deadlines required
- Professional communication skills to include oral and written required
- Ability to take initiative on departmental tasks required
- Ability to work with individuals with a range of intellectual abilities required
- Current working knowledge of ASL, ECE, ELEE program curriculum and SCC’s admission requirements preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively through American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
Pay
The salary for this position begins at $35,194.00 and is determined commensurate with education and experience.
