About the role
The Salvation Army’s Fall River Corps. is hiring an Administrative Assistant. The position offers an excellent benefit package including Generous paid time off, an Employer funded Pension Plan, comprehensive health care coverage, and eligibility for supplemental insurance plans.
Responsibilities
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Sort and open office mail and place in appropriate inboxes
- Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to photocopying, faxing, mailing, filing, maintaining inventory, processing requests for office supplies, maintaining routine reports and statistics, submitting timesheets to payroll, maintaining all department files according to office procedures, performing all typing duties, responding to all donations with a thank you card, scheduling social service interviews, coordinating “clothe a child” holiday assistance, helping with kids’ recruitment paperwork for summer camp, keeping the finance database entries up to date, helping with bank deposits
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: High School Diploma, College/Business School Graduate preferred
- Work Experience: At least two (2) years work experience in field
- Other Qualifications: High level of confidentiality, discretion, and judgment; Requires a high level of computer expertise related to Microsoft Applications - Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.; Must have excellent organizational skills; Must be able to communicate effectively in a warm, gracious, and professional manner; Requires a high degree of initiative; Highly detail oriented and organized; Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; Demonstrated skills in written correspondence and verbal communication; Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate professionally and effectively with key internal and external constituencies including fellow staff, volunteers, donors, and board members; Must be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as reference materials, files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Ability to load and to change settings, devices, fixtures, on various equipment used in and around an office environment
- Operate telephone and other electronic communication devices
- Operate various other office equipment including personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and scanning equipment
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to travel throughout the Division via car, train, or airplane
- Ability to be creative, original, intuitive, and perceptive
- Ability to think logically and critically
- Ability to envision a project from beginning to end
- Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions
