SUPERVISOR
About the role
Oversee services provided to individuals in their own homes and communities, who need assistance caring for themselves as a result of old age, sickness, disability, and/or other conditions. Home care may include assistance with the activities of daily living, housecleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, companionship, and respite.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Agency policies and procedures and industry standards and regulations are followed.
- Assist with the coordination, evaluation, and planning of home care services.
- Aid the Branch Manager/Lead Supervisor with administrative activities and optimal use of resources.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic branch plans, goals, and objectives.
- Cookordination of Staffing/Scheduling activities.
- Supervise work activities of designated employees.
- Develop and instruct employees in the use of practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Provide leadership to employees.
- Conduct in-home assessments and Home Visits.
- Liaise with community resources and other agencies.
Requirements
- Knowledge of standards of practice and scope of practice, in accordance with state regulations.
- Knowledge of personal care and home management skills.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal care services, including needs determinants, meeting quality standards and evaluation of client satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to identify injuries.
- Knowledge of clerical procedures such as maintaining records and completing forms.
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to converse with subordinates in a clear, concise, accurate & timely manner.
- Ability to monitor and assess employees, clients, and the effectiveness of service.
- Ability to communicate written and oral information so others understand.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with clients/families/co-workers.
- Microsoft Office and other office equipment proficiency.
Qualifications/Education
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current driver’s license.
- Proper Vehicle Insurance Coverage.
Training/Experience
- May require related experience.
- To serve as an Alzheimer's services supervisor working in an entity licensed under 77 Ill. Adm. Code 245 or 280, an individual shall complete at least eight hours of training annually related to the care of residents or clients with Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias.
- The Alzheimer's services supervisor shall also meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Achieve a certification from one of the following:
- The Alzheimer's Association's EssentiALZ program;
- An organization that provides a credentialing certificate for a certified dementia specialist (CDS);
- The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (CDP) as a certified dementia practitioner;
- The National Certification Board for Alzheimer and Aging Care;
- Have a minimum of two years of experience working with persons with Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias, at least one year of which is management experience working with persons with Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias, and have completed ability-centered care training.
