Location: Nashville, TN (Department of Environment & Conservation, Davidson County – Nashville Environmental Field Office)

Full-time position with a monthly salary range of $3,631.00 - $5,434.00 (annually $43,572.00 - $65,208.00).

Overview

Under general supervision, this role involves staff administrative work of average difficulty in support of line operations. Responsibilities include budget development, contract monitoring, personnel administration, research, planning, procurement, grant administration, and report preparation. This is the working level in the Admin Services Assistant sub-series, differing from entry-level roles by requiring more independent work and from senior roles by having fewer responsibilities for policy development and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general staff administrative duties to support program operations.
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains records and reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Serves as a liaison between the agency and the public, other state departments, officials, and external entities to explain procedures and regulations.
  • Interprets and enforces existing policies and recommends improvements.
  • Prepares and reviews operating budgets to determine agency needs.
  • Conducts grant administration and monitoring to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Conducts research in fiscal, economic, legal, legislative, and publications areas.
  • Performs human resources administration, including employee relations, recruitment, and training.
  • May assign work and train less experienced staff to achieve agency objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time professional staff administrative or analytic experience.
  • Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible sub-professional, para-professional, or professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (maximum of four years).
  • Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in public administration, business administration, or related fields may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Alternative: One year of professional administrative services experience with the State of Tennessee.

Driver Requirements

Candidates must meet the following driver qualifications:
