Full-time position with a monthly salary range of $3,631.00 - $4,533.00 (annually $43,572.00 - $54,396.00).

About the Role

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for staff administrative work of average difficulty in support of line operations. This is the working level in the Admin Services Assistant sub-series, involving a variety of assignments such as budget development and maintenance, contract development and monitoring, personnel administration, research, planning, information compilation and dissemination, procurement, grant proposal review, forms design, and report preparation.

This role serves as a liaison between the agency and external parties, interprets and enforces policies, and may train or assign work to less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general staff administrative duties to support program operations.
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains records and reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Serves as a liaison between the agency and the public, other state departments, officials, and external entities to explain procedures and regulations.
  • Interprets and enforces existing policies and recommends improvements.
  • Prepares and reviews operating budgets to determine agency needs.
  • Conducts grant administration and monitoring to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Conducts research in fiscal, economic, legal, legislative, or publications areas to obtain relevant information.
  • Performs human resources administration in areas such as employee relations, EEO, recruitment, and training.
  • May assign work and train less experienced staff.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time professional staff administrative or analytic experience.
  • Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible sub-professional, para-professional, or professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (maximum of four years).
  • Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in public administration, business administration, or related fields may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Alternative: One year of professional administrative services experience with the State of Tennessee.
