Job Responsibilities

The Midlands Technical College Humanities Department is seeking an in-person SPC: 205 Public Speaking faculty position. Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching classes at multiple campuses and off-campus sites, including high schools.
  • Conducting appropriate learning activities.
  • Maintaining effective instructional management.
  • Participating in all required orientations, meetings, and trainings.
  • Adhering to all college-designated deadlines.
  • Participating in Student Learning Outcomes assessment.
  • Traveling to off-campus sites (if applicable).
  • Earning mileage reimbursement (if applicable).

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • Master of Arts in Speech Communication; or Master of Arts plus 18 hours in Speech, Speech Communication, or a related field.
  • Past experience in teaching introductory college-level public speaking courses, especially in the community college setting, is preferred.

Additional Comments

Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $2,914.65 per three-credit-hour course. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
