About the Role
To develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn nutritional sciences presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community.
Responsibilities
- Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system.
- Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives, and grading procedures for all courses.
- Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
- Complete all mandatory training.
- Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Health Education.
- Minimum of 18 graduate hours in nutrition science.
- Educational qualifications to teach in subject area or documented specialty education/experience to meet tested experience requirements, as per the Higher Learning Commission's publication on Determining Qualified Faculty.
- Provide leadership in an academic discipline and/or degree program. Programs with discipline-specific external accreditation may have more stringent training and experience requirements.

Skills and Proficiencies
- Teaching Competence: Ability to create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; ability to assess student learning and progress.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English; requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, and students using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as email and Internet.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Certifications/Licensure
Dependent on course.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Nutrition Science.
- Registered Dietitian (LD/RD).
Pay
$750.00 - $800.00 per credit hour.
Schedule
- Work Schedule: Varies depending on modality and day of courses assigned.
- Appointment Length: 6 months or less.
Working Conditions
- Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Work environment includes office and classroom settings with significant public contact (in person, by telephone, via email, and other communication platforms).
- Often busy and noisy environment.
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting, talking, and listening.
- Extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
- Possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (Objects over 45 lbs. require a two-person lift).
