Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and maintain accurate student records.
• Report directly to the Department Chair.
• Evaluate student performance according to departmental and college guidelines.
• Encourage student participation and engagement.
• Maintain an organized and disciplined classroom environment.
• Be responsive to students, offering assistance and guidance.
• Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative college environment.
• Adhere to all College, Department, and County policies.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree within the academic discipline or a closely related field in conjunction with the Medical Assisting field.
• Labor & Employment Law Credentials: Must be credentialed in good standing in medical assisting by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
• Credential: The CMA (AAMA) credential issued by the American Association of Medical Assistants is preferred. Must be current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives as required by CAAHEP Standards, with training in educational theory and techniques.
• Experience: Previous employment experience in a healthcare or ambulatory care setting performing or observing clinical and administrative procedures conducted by medical assistants. Teaching experience in postsecondary or vocational/technical education is preferred.
