About the role

The University of the District of Columbia is seeking enthusiastic and qualified part-time instructors to teach courses in Hospitality and Tourism.

Responsibilities

  • Teach all assigned classes and hours as determined by semester course schedule
  • Evaluate and select texts and instructional materials
  • Prepare and deliver relevant curriculum to students
  • Use a variety of teaching methods such as lecture, class discussion, demonstration labs, and projects
  • Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades
  • Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations
  • Attend all meetings, ceremonies and official functions as specified by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Community College Officer and/or Dean
  • Meet with the Dean or Department Chair/Division Director as needed to discuss course aspects
  • Adhere to University policies and guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or licensure/certification in subject area or combination of education and corporate/industry experience
  • Prior teaching experience or evidence of teaching potential and/or corporate/industry training
