About the role
The University of the District of Columbia is seeking enthusiastic and qualified part-time instructors to teach courses in Hospitality and Tourism.
Responsibilities
- Teach all assigned classes and hours as determined by semester course schedule
- Evaluate and select texts and instructional materials
- Prepare and deliver relevant curriculum to students
- Use a variety of teaching methods such as lecture, class discussion, demonstration labs, and projects
- Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades
- Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning
- Encourage students to submit course evaluations
- Attend all meetings, ceremonies and official functions as specified by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Community College Officer and/or Dean
- Meet with the Dean or Department Chair/Division Director as needed to discuss course aspects
- Adhere to University policies and guidelines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or licensure/certification in subject area or combination of education and corporate/industry experience
- Prior teaching experience or evidence of teaching potential and/or corporate/industry training
