About the Role

Conduct on-site instruction in English courses. Instructors will develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and help students learn the subject matter presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system.
  • Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives, and grading procedures for all courses.
  • Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
  • Complete all mandatory training.
  • Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's in English or related discipline or Master's Degree with 18 hours in English (degree must be conferred on or before agreed-upon start date).
  • Minimum two (2) years teaching and classroom management experience.
  • Must have educational qualifications to teach in subject area or have documented specialty education/experience to meet tested experience requirements, as per the Higher Learning Commission's publication on Determining Qualified Faculty.
  • Programs with discipline-specific external accreditation may have more stringent training and experience requirements.

Skills

  • Teaching Competence – Ability to create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; ability to assess student learning and progress.
  • Communication skills – Clear, grammatically correct verbal and written communication in English; ability to interact with supervisors, colleagues, and students using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
  • Computer skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), email, and Internet.
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D./Ed.D. in a related field.

Pay

$750.00 per credit hour.

Schedule

Schedule varies depending on modality and day of courses assigned. Online classes available. Appointment length: 6 months or less.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in-person during the day in the Oklahoma City area.
  • Work will be performed in an office and classroom environment with significant public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and through various communication platforms.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting, talking, and listening.
  • Extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • Possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (Objects over 45 lbs. require a two-person lift).
