Adjunct Professor, English (Applicant Pool 2026-2027)

Responsible for preparing and delivering coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to the college's core values, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Responsibilities

• Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the Division faculty and administered by the associate dean/director.
• Teaching assignments may be on one or more of the college's campuses or off-site locations and may include evening and weekend programs. Collin College is not hiring for online instruction at this time.
• May include Dual Credit courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and core values.

In accordance with Texas Education Code 51.992, this position is designated for in-person work at a campus or other location of Collin College. Remote or telecommuting arrangements are not permitted except under specific circumstances defined by law, including temporary illness, approved distance education assignments, or other narrow statutory exceptions. All candidates should expect to perform duties on-site.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in the discipline/qualifying field or a Master's in any discipline with 18 graduate hours in the discipline/qualifying field.
• Conferred transcripts must be attached to the application.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
• Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions, plus stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

• This position is Security Sensitive; candidates will be subject to a criminal background check. If selected for a dual credit course(s), an additional background check requiring fingerprinting with the TX DPS will be required from the assigned ISD.
