About the Role
We are seeking qualified candidates for Adjunct Instructors in the Medical Assistant Administrative Instructor pool. This pool is for applicants interested in teaching part-time in the future. While there may not be an immediate opening, department chairs review applications in advance to determine eligibility for their pool of adjunct instructors. If a part-time instructional need arises, approved applicants may be contacted for an interview.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and facilitate student learning, including day, night, and online courses at the main campus and extension centers.
- Establish and promote an effective learning environment to maximize documented student learning.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
- Grade assignments meaningfully to promote student growth, return graded assignments in a timely manner, and assign final grades by institutional deadlines.
- Provide educational assistance to students during office hours or by appointment.
- Encourage student participation in opinion surveys and review feedback to improve student success.
- Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Three years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably two years in an ambulatory setting.
- Current licensure/certification/registration as an RN, RMA, or CMA (AAMA), with CMA (AAMA) preferred.
- Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing various abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.
- Experience with instructional technology preferred.
- Commitment to student recruitment, retention, and success.
- Ability to develop curriculum and use traditional and non-traditional instructional delivery methods.
Mental and Physical Demands
- Detailed work, student contact, and deadline-oriented tasks.
- Handling problem situations, multiple priorities, and emergency situations.
- Maintaining confidentiality and managing continual interruptions.
- Working with faculty and students in a collaborative environment.
- Primarily sedentary work with occasional sitting, talking, hearing, and close/distance vision requirements.
- Ability to speak English via phone or in person.
- Normal office environment with minimal discomfort from heat, dust, or noise.
- Ability to travel to all campus locations.
