Adjunct Pool - Instructors in Chemistry

North Central College’s Department of Chemistry and Physics seeks adjunct (per-course) instructors for laboratory and lecture sections of General and Organic Chemistry. This continuous posting builds a qualified pool; candidates may be contacted when programmatic needs arise.

About the role

• Deliver course content aligned with learning outcomes
• Create assignments and assessments
• Evaluate and grade student work
• Hold office hours to support student success
• Appointments are semester-by-semester, renewable contracts with loads up to 8 credit hours (typically one course per semester)
• Non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term position with no tenure eligibility
• Number of courses depends on unit needs, funding, and enrollment

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in chemistry or an associated field preferred
• Master’s degree with college-level teaching experience may be considered
• Teaching excellence is paramount

Desired qualifications

• Prior higher-education teaching experience
• Experience with technology/course management systems (e.g., Canvas)

Pay

• Labs: $2,640–$2,860 per course
• Lectures: $2,880–$3,120 per course
