About the role
Raritan Valley Community College is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for teaching AWS MIG welding in our Advanced Manufacturing department. This role involves leading and motivating students through effective instruction in both hard and soft skills to prepare them for long-term employment success. The instructor will play a crucial role in our constantly growing and diverse program, with a strong emphasis on safety and detail.
Responsibilities
- Teach AWS MIG welding techniques and standards.
- Instruct students in welding metallurgy, including atomic structure, grain structure, heat flow, phase transformations, and the weldability of ferrous commercial alloys.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and attention to detail.
- Develop and deliver lessons that prepare students for employment in the welding industry.
- Cover evenings and weekends as necessary.
Requirements
- AWS D1.1 structural welding code certifications for carbon steel.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to exhibit careful attention to detail and display mature judgment.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of conventional milling (preferred).
- Experience with best education practices for teaching welding concepts and fundamentals (preferred).
Pay
$50.00 per hour.
Schedule
Flexible, with the ability to cover evenings and weekends as needed.
