About the role
Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline in a classroom/virtual/clinical environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials, delivering high-quality instruction, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and actively contributing to the academic, professional, and community life of the college.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of MECC while emphasizing instructional excellence through innovative teaching practices, curriculum development, and assessment.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization, committing to continuous professional growth aligned with the college’s mission and goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing with demonstrated competency in the teaching field to teach in the RN program; associate’s degree in nursing with demonstrated competency in the teaching field to teach in the LPN program if working on a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Must hold a current license or a multi-state licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse.
- Have had two years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse.
- Maintained documentation of professional competence through activities such as nursing practice, education programs, conferences.
