Adjunct Music Instructor- Cello

About the Role

Teaches Cello lessons and provides assistance and academic advising to Cello students outside of class. Teach other music courses as available. Music lessons (MUAP) pay $50/hour.

Responsibilities

• 55% Teaches private Cello lessons as assigned by departmental chair.
• 10% Uses appropriate technology for lesson communication.
• 10% Stays current in both the professional field and current teaching/learning best practices.
• 10% Works as a team member in the Fine Arts Department.
• 10% Contributes to department assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
• 5% Complies with the faculty responsibilities as related in the Faculty Handbook and the Board Policy and Procedures Manual.

Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in music from an accredited college or university.
• Must be able to meet face-to-face lessons on the Denison, TX campus during the sixteen-week term.
• One to two years of related experience.
• Previous successful experience teaching cello in a high school, university, and/or community college, and demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process.
• Significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
• Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
• Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
• Unofficial transcripts must be submitted with the application. If selected, official transcripts from each degree-granting institution will be required upon date of hire.
• Three professional references must be included on the Grayson College application form.
• This position is considered security sensitive and will require a criminal background check.

Pay

$50/hour for music lessons (MUAP).
