About the role

Adjunct instructors are part-time faculty hired to teach specified courses on a per-semester basis. Continuation of teaching is assessed each semester based on adherence to administrative deadlines, communication, and student evaluations. Current openings are for day and afternoon classes at the Scranton Campus for Fall 2026. This position reports to the AVP of Academic Operations, with primary contact through the Lawrence Pugliese Math/Science Division Chair.

Responsibilities

• Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an on-ground classroom setting, accounting for diverse learners and current trends.
• Provides support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.
• Completes and maintains all required documentation and records by established deadlines, including syllabi, grades, attendance, and Student Learning Outcomes assessments.
• Fosters a professional and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning, critical thinking, and student growth.
• Provides meaningful, hands-on application of material to reinforce learning.
• Performs additional duties as required by the Dean.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in the content area or a Master’s degree in education with an undergraduate degree in the content area preferred; Bachelor’s degrees will be considered.
• Demonstrated prior teaching experience in a corporate or higher education setting preferred.
• Proficiency using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
