Adjunct Masters Level Mental Health Clinician

Position Summary

CAPS is seeking applicants for adjunct counseling positions that would be located either in our Central office or at specific schools/colleges on our campus. This is a 6-month temporary, part-time or full-time appointment. Starting date and hours are negotiable.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Individual counseling: 65%
  • Crisis intervention: 10%
  • Providing consultation to UM staff and faculty: 5%
  • Administrative Clinical consultation and documentation: 20%

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Counseling
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of Michigan (applicant does not need to be dually licensed. LLMSW, LMSW or LPC are acceptable).
  • Social Workers - Licensed/license eligible in the State of Michigan
  • Professional Counselor - must be fully licensed
  • Clinical experience with a college student/young adult population

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

Additional Information

  • This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.
  • Selected candidates whose start date is between 4/1/2026 - 9/1/2026 will not be eligible for the university FY26-27 salary/merit plan unless otherwise notified.
  • Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
  • Relocation will not be offered for this role.

Position Criteria

  • Working clinically with college student/young adult populations, including common theoretical approaches (e.g., DBT, ACT, CBT, family systems, etc.)
  • Multicultural competency/work with diversity and difference in current professional role or professional-in-training role

Working Conditions

Hybrid: In office 4 days a week and option to work remote 1 day a week. 1st shift: Monday- Friday.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
