Essential Duties
- Create courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students' active participation in their own learning.
- Create an effective learning environment that fosters students' intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
- Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Midwifery or a related field with 5 or more years of experience as a Certified Professional Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife in the community (home or birth center) setting.
- OR
- A certificate, diploma, or equivalent degree in Midwifery from a MEAC-accredited program with a minimum of 5 years of documented experience as a CPM.
- Current knowledge, skills, and attitudes consistent with the legal and ethical practices of Midwifery.
- Required professional certifications, including requirements related to CPM/CNM/LM, continuing education related to education and management thereof, and professional requirements for program and college accreditation.
- Two years of high education teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in D2L Bright Space or Learning Management Systems, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and Typhon.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Day and evening availability.
Physical Requirements
- Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Clinical instruction may involve - Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Pay
The starting salary for this position is $743.00 - $943.00 per contact hour. The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
