Adjunct Lecturer in Law - Contract Drafting and Negotiation

About the role

USC Gould is seeking an adjunct lecturer to teach LAW-709: Contract Drafting and Negotiation, an experiential course that teaches students the fundamentals of contract drafting and negotiation—key skills for any transactional lawyer.

USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester if approved by the dean.

The class is on campus, so candidates must be local.

Requirements

• JD degree
• At least five years of experience in legal practice, including practice in the subject area

Responsibilities

• Teach LAW-709: Contract Drafting and Negotiation
• Complete mandatory training requirements by specified deadlines, including:
  • USC’s Harassment Prevention Training (at hire and every two years thereafter)
  • USC’s Integrity and Accountability Code Training (at hire)
  • Information Security training (annually)
  • Workplace Violence Prevention Plan training (annually)
  • Additional trainings as required by specific job responsibilities

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $2,433.66 - $9,984.65 per semester. When extending an offer, USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, number of units per course, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal/state/local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, and external market and organizational considerations.
