About the role
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis. Responsibilities
- Deliver synchronous/asynchronous lectures and discussions on healthcare finance topics.
- Develop and manage course materials, including syllabi, readings, and assignments.
- Assess and evaluate student performance based on coursework and participation.
- Provide timely feedback and support to students, addressing questions or concerns.
- Stay current in healthcare finance trends and integrate real-world examples into lessons.
- Participate in online faculty meetings and contribute to curriculum development when required.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
- Significant experience (usually 3-5 years) in healthcare finance or a related area, such as healthcare administration, financial management, or accounting within healthcare organizations.
- Previous teaching experience in higher education, particularly in healthcare finance or related subjects. Online teaching experience is often specifically required.
- Experience using online education platforms such as Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle for course delivery, assessment, and student engagement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively delivering course content and engaging with students in an online environment.
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Higher-level experience in healthcare finance (5+ years) in a senior financial management role within healthcare (e.g., CFO, Director of Finance).
- Extensive online teaching experience (proven track record of teaching courses online, preferably in the healthcare finance discipline, with evidence of successful student outcomes and positive teaching evaluations).
- Experience developing course content or curriculum, particularly in healthcare finance or related subjects.
- Awareness of the latest developments in healthcare economics, policies, and finance to ensure the course material is up to date and relevant.
- Experience working with adult learners, particularly in professional or graduate programs.
- Certification in Online Teaching (certifications or additional training in online teaching methodologies or educational technology can be a strong advantage).
