Adjunct Instructors in Sea Turtle Rehabilitation

About Distance Education
Distance Education provides an entirely asynchronous, online learning experience that adapts to the unique circumstances of each student. Our fully accredited bachelor's and master's degree programs, as well as non-degree credits, empower learners to shape their own educational journey. With 8 five-week terms for undergraduates and 5 eight-week terms for graduate students, our model offers unparalleled flexibility. You can learn at your own pace and take breaks as needed. By using your everyday environment as your laboratory, you'll integrate your studies into your daily life, making our education ideal for busy professionals.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for facilitating engagement in 5-week undergraduate-level courses in Sea Turtle Rehabilitation and/or related courses. Courses are taught asynchronously with an average of 20 students per course. Instructors must:
- Meet expectations for timely feedback
- Engage in Discussion Board tasks
- Be responsive to students
Requirements
- Terminal degree (e.g., PhD) in marine science, biology, veterinary medicine, wildlife health, zoology, or a related discipline, or a master’s degree with ample professional experience in the field
- Research or professional experience working with sea turtles, with direct experience in sea turtle rehabilitation strongly preferred
- Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately using e-mail and digital conferencing tools
- Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the college
Skills
- Experience teaching adult learners and/or teaching in an online context
- Experience using Canvas or other Learning Management System to facilitate learning
Pay
Adjunct faculty are compensated at a rate of $47 per student credit hour. Baccalaureate courses are delivered in five-week terms, and compensation for each course section is based on the number of student credit hours generated by enrolled students in that section.

Location
Unity Environmental University's Distance Education curriculum is 100% online. Adjuncts will teach remotely and must reside within the United States for the entire duration of the academic term in which they are teaching. It is the responsibility of the adjunct to ensure they are working in a state that aligns with the tax information reported to HR.
