Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
- Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters and grade student work.
- Meet with students outside of class.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintain accurate academic records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
- EDUCATION: Master's in physics, astronomy or astrophysics OR Bachelor's in physics or astronomy AND Master's in engineering, mathematics, meteorology or geophysics OR the equivalent.

Benefits
The position offers benefits consistent with the collective bargaining agreement between the Contra Costa Community College District and the Associated Students of Contra Costa Community College District.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $5,000 - $7,000 per semester, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The position is for 5 months (1 semester), starting in the Fall 2026.
