About the Role
Adjunct faculty are responsible for preparing and teaching one or more assigned courses at LIU Hudson.
Responsibilities
- Construct an appropriate, up-to-date syllabus and post it in the course shell(s) on the LIU learning platform at least three days prior to the start of class.
- Post a welcome letter in the course shell(s) at least three days prior to the start of class.
- Submit the syllabus to LIU Hudson at least one week prior to the start of class.
- Attend Faculty Receptions/Meetings at the start of the fall and spring semesters.
- Submit grades no more than 48 hours following the last class of the semester.
- Teach course content and engage students in critical thinking about the subject matter and their field of study.
- Encourage depth and breadth of thinking in course discussions and assignments.
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, particularly at the graduate level, and support students through intellectual and methodological challenges.
Requirements
- ABD (All But Dissertation) or a master’s degree with relevant experience and expertise in the teaching of the specific subject matter.
