About the role

The Department of Studio Art seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applications at any time. This position is for Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027. The specific courses vary from semester to semester, and openings to teach these courses develop periodically, depending on departmental teaching needs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ASTU courses in Figure Drawing, Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Metalsmithing & Jewelry, New Media Art, Photography, Printmaking, Rotating Topics, and Sculpture.
  • Classes meet Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu in 3-hour sessions: 8am-10:50am, 11:10am-2pm, 2:20pm-5:10pm, and evenings.

Requirements

  • Terminal Degree or equivalent experience in the field of visual arts, studio arts, or closely related field.
  • Experience teaching in higher education or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated exhibition record or equivalent.

Qualifications

We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin, and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, and/or Yoruba.
