The Department of Social Work at UNT seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applications at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific courses available vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses may develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

About the Role

The anticipated need is for adjunct instructors to teach courses across the curriculum in both the BSW and MSW programs. Examples of courses include Social Welfare Policy, Human Behavior, and Field Seminar. Both of our programs are primarily face-to-face with most classes meeting during the day on the UNT Denton campus. There is limited opportunity for online teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses across the curriculum in both the BSW and MSW programs.
  • Teach examples of courses such as Social Welfare Policy, Human Behavior, and Field Seminar.
  • Teach in a primarily face-to-face format with most classes meeting during the day on the UNT Denton campus.
  • Limited opportunity for online teaching.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work with at least two years of post-master’s social work practice experience.
  • Licensure as a social worker at the LMSW or LCSW level (preferred).
  • Previous college teaching experience (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Experience working with students from HSI/MSI backgrounds.
  • Experience working with students who speak languages other than English.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to changing course requirements and schedules.
